Wonderful place for relaxing in summer

My husband and I and our two big dogs just finished a week here at Spring Hill Farm and we will definitely be back.

Nick, the owner, was responsive and easy to deal with, and Mimi, the caretaker, was also totally accomodating.

The house is big - plenty of room to spread out. Furnishings are comfortable, which is great for a rental (we've been in some houses where the couches just make you ache), although they have been well-used. This is not a designer house; this is where you go to relax. There are plenty of windows so the house is bright and cheerful.

Kitchen was well-equipped; appliances all in good repair, pots and pans well-worn but good enough.

We only used one of the seven bedrooms but the mattress was terrific, again, a plus for a rental house.

The property is just wonderful; the areas around the house are kept mowed, but there are just the perfect number of maple trees to provide shade and a lovely appearance. The largest pond is GREAT for swimming; the little 'beach' area means there's no farm pond mud to wade through! Wooded areas around the place mean there is complete privacy.

We made use of the sauna several times during our stay - it's a real plus.

The house is easy to get to without being on a busy road. We found the nearby IGA to be very well-stocked, and there are options for going out to eat in all directions. Beer aficionados take note: there is a wonderful beer store just a few minutes away. Manchester and it's outlets are a short hop away, as are wonderful hiking trails.

If you're looking for granite countertops and Viking ranges, this is not the place. If you and your dogs like running in & out without a care, then definitely try this house.

oh - and the pool table - it rained one day and we spent a good while being laughably bad at pool. Who'd have thought it would come in so handy?

Four seasons of fun

We've stayed at Spring Hill with a group of friends and our dogs over several Xmas-New Year's weeks. It's a wonderful place for a winter get-away: downhill skiing right around the corner at Stratton and Bromley, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing right out the door, as well as at several excellent cross-country skiing centers and on the catamount and other trails in the area. It's just a short hop to Manchester if you like to shop, and lots of great, small farmstands for local cheeses and other lovely items (we are HUGE fans of Taylor Farms). Lots of room for folks to spread out, and the property is very private (the house is well back from the road, with a brook between the property and the road - very nice for keeping the dogs contained!)

The Best Place for a Wedding

My husband and I chose Spring Hill Farm to host our wedding last summer. We picked mid July for the weather and the best place to have a wedding. We couldn't have been happier and our friends and family fell in love with the place. It was romantic, private, and Nick is very accommodating, helpful, and communicative. Beautiful garden around the house, old apple trees, wildflowers, a creek, a pond, sauna, tons of room for guests and revelers. The beautiful barn, and bridge over the creek are great backgrounds for photos. You just can't go wrong if you are looking for a picturesque and serene atmosphere. Very private, no loud noise from the road and the neighbors are very friendly. Close to the town and an all around wonderful place to celebrate. The kitchen had lots of utensils and seemed well used. The house is well kept and it has that farmhouse, knick knack, things un-matching kind of feel.
